I just got into this band, they are very progressive, and very talented all together. So far i've only listened to the songs on blackwater park but they blew me away. The songs are extremely progressive, often times moving from incredibly low growls and heavy guitar, to soft acoustic guitar and clean singing within a matter of seconds, but it all feels smooth and well thought out. some of their songs that i love : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6OzPzoYhzU – leper affinity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9WVCaO2490&feature=related – the drapery falls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFX8AyxwCYs&feature=related – Blackwater Park renzuokunQuote

That's my favorite CD from Opeth. If you look into another one, look into Deliverance. It's also pretty sweet. |

yeah i just checked it out and I love it, too. I like how they arent repetitive at ALL, but thats expected considering that they've had lineup changes for literally every album. The only guy that stayed was the lead guitarist/vocalist, who is obviously the most important guy in the group anyway. renzuokunQuote

Opeth is quite a well known band…I think everyone on here knows who Mikael Akerfeldt is…at least I hope so. Either way, this album is great, great for rainy days :d Deliverance and Damnation(no growls on this one tho, I love it to death anyways) are both great albums too. Ghost Reveries is fantastic too. Happy listening! |

Yeah, I'm pissed at myself for not giving them a check sooner, and thats why i made a thread on it, just in case others havent checked them out. I knew who they were since i started listening to metal, but now i know why. they are fucking great. renzuokunQuote
