New Releases: Catamenia, Trauma, Carach Angren

There are a few new releases out today they everyone might want to check out.

Trama - Archetype of Chaos

These guys are my favorite technical death metal band. So far, from the preview track floating around online, it sounds like they are staying true to their sound.

If you like technical death metal with a dose of groove, this is for you. It’s not the typical “blast as fast as you can” style of tech death. They do blast, but only when it fits.

Catamenia – Cavalcade

Warning: This album is not like the Catamenia we know. It’s very mellow. I would classify this as heavy metal or gothic black metal. I’ll finish listening to it and get back to everyone.

I really don’t know what to say, It’s not really that bad, perhaps I was just expecting something heavier and didn’t get it. It’s like drinking watered down beer!

Carach Angren – Death Came Through A Phantom Ship

Forget Catamenia for your epic black metal fix. Grab this album. The music is symphonic but not really too cheesy. If it is cheesy then it is deliberately cheesy. Some of the lyrics are obviously meant to be humorous.

I’m having a ton of fun with this release. There is something avant garde about it as well. It’s almost theatrical. I’ll review it soon.

This is good for fans of Abigail Williams, Dimmu Borgir, Cradle of Filth, Stormlord, etc.
