Vektor – Black Future (2009) Review

Hey guys, sorry it’s been so long since my last review.  Eh.

Sooo I’m not normally a fan of thrash metal.  However, the progressiveness of this band saves it for me.  They have created some seriously interesting melodies, and while most of it is fast-paced and in your face, they do understand the importance of slowing down and adding a bit of atmosphere.

The music is primarily guitar-driven madness, though they don’t neglect the bass so this music actually has some weight to it.  Overall, the instrumentals are really solid.  The vocals are a bit “thinner” and more shrill than I normally like, but they don’t destroy the beauty of the instrumentals.  The composition is pretty solid, though since the music is quite progressive they occasionally make awkward, jarring transitions from one key and melody to another.  This music really demands attention, it’s definitely not background music.

This album is insane. I enjoy me some thrash from time to time, and this is just the best that has come out in years IMO. The vocals are just stupid good, I don’t get how that guy can do these pterodactyl screaches. And those riffs that mixes solid classic thrash with elements from black metal, I just love them. Great album..
Gonna listen to that just now on my way to work!
