Krisiun – Southern Storm (2008) Review
You can read my bad rambling, or you can skip to Bottom Line at the bottom and get my short and simple version.
Well I haven’t written anything in a while, so I thought it was about time for me to write a review, and why not write about a band I already know and love? That’s right, the most badass BDM band out of Brazil, Krisiun. Ever since the early 90′s, Krisiun have never failed at putting out a brutal, technical, great album. In the case of Southern Storm, that’s no exception.
I remember when I first heard Apocalyptic Revelation I thought that it was amazing, simply because back then the only other few death metal bands I knew didn’t seem to play as amazingly fast and as technically as they did, and that still happens today actually, most of the newer death metal have the speed to rival Krisiun, but only a small few are actually contributing new things as opposed to recycling older things.
Krisiun have been in the game for a long time and still know how to keep it current, while maintaining all the same elements that have separated them from everyone else a long time ago. While I don’t quite think this album stacks up to Apocalyptic Revelation, It is still better by maybe 90-95% of any of the new BDM bands, hands down. If you like older Krisiun, old school death metal, brutal or technical, this is an album to check out, however you may get bored of it eventually and will probably go back listening to some of their earlier work.
It’s because of this I’m giving it the score of 8.5/10, the drums are fast and almost flawless, the vocals are powerful, and the guitars and bass have a raw sound that sounds great. I would say some of the songs that you should look in to would be “Contradictions of Decay” and “Whore of the Unlight”, both of them start out sort of slow but definately evolve into some amazing Krisiun work.
BOTTOM LINE: Overall the album is great, but it will make you want to pop in one of their older works than listen to their new CD.

question, when i check it as a review does it put it at the top? i'm guessing that's what it does because i think it was at the top when i was writing it last night.. i was kinda tired, but i wont mark it under reviews if thats what it does.
