Son if Aurelius is a hell of a lot of fun.  These guys are a technical death metal band hailing from Santa Cruz, CA, and from what I’ve seen they’re a lot better than most (not all, most) of the death metal being produced in the US.  Their sounds is fairly unique; one second their music will be heavy and agressive and the next second it’ll switch to some ridiculously intricate classical guitar solo or duet.  It is impossible to get bored while listening to this music, there’s just so much going on in it.  All the instruments are solid, I’m most impressed by the guitarists.

This band’s sounds is somewhat similar to Decrepit Birth, I’m guessing that has something to do with the fact that they share a guitarist.  Son of Aurelius is a bit less brutal-sounding, though.

My face almost melted off the first time I heard their song “Facing the Gorgon”.  It’s definitely one of the stronger tracks on the album.  I am seriously looking forward to their sophomore album.
